Gratitude

I write little of the software that runs on my machine, and of the little I do write I do not compile it or garbage collect it at runtime.

I do not make any of my own frameworks.

I code in languages I did not create or contribute to.

I did not write the libraries I import.

I benefit from hardware improvements I did not architect or manufacture, and do not understand or benchmark.

My CI is kept green by runners I do not host myself.

When my cloud provider had an outage, I was helpless to keep my services available.

I did not invent the IDE, the LSP, DRY, ACID, or most of the technology I work with.

I love and admire my species, living and dead, and am totally dependent on them for my life and well being.
